Interview with Actor of Into the West
Bell: What was the most challenging scene for you during the filming of Into the West?
McClarnon: The most challenging scenes were all of them...it was very difficult for me to learn the Lakota language and to do that correct.
Bell: Any memorable moments on the set?
McClarnon: The whole shoot was memorable. It got extremely cold in Alberta at times, and we didn’t have many clothes on.
Bell: Did you perform your own stunts for some of the scenes?
McClarnon: I did all my horseback riding in the films.
Bell: With what other actors/actresses did you become acquainted, during the filming of Into the West?
McClarnon: I became acquainted with all the other actors on the set: both from Canada as well as the U.S. Michael Spears and I became quite close. It was over all a great experience for me as an actor and as a person.
Bell: In what other shows/movies have you starred?
McClarnon: Chicago Hope, Dangerous Minds, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Strong Medicine, NYPD Blue, and others.
Bell: Anything else you would like to share with us?
McClarnon: I am leaving for South Africa in a few days to do another film for TNT called the "Librarian." It is a contemporary Native role.
I would like to thank Zahn McClarnon for allowing me to interview him.
